As is the case with a standard loft you ll find an open space of at least three to four feet high beneath one of the bunks. This perpendicular arrangement may provide additional privacy or a less cramped feeling for those. Though bunk beds typically stack the two mattress frames in parallel some designs stack the two bed frames in perpendicular. The term bunk bed generally refers to two beds stacked on top of each other to take advantage of vertical space in a room shared by two or more people.
